Armchair 366 designed by J.Chierowski (oak, original upholstery)
Armchair type 366, or the iconic “Chierek” is a design by Józef Chierowski and one of the icons of the Polish modernist design of the mid-twentieth century. Armchairs of this type were produced mainly in the factory in Świebodzice for over 20 years, starting from 1962.
Furniture, although simple in construction, is neat, light and still modern. The offered specimen belongs to the rarest series made of oak wood that distinguishes itself with the slim and elegant construction shape of armrests and profiles (Chierki were usually made of beech wood). The model from this series can be admired at the permanent exhibition of the Design Gallery of the Polish National Museum in Warsaw.
The armchair underwent a woodwork renovation and was finished with an oil-wax in a neutral colour. After replacing the insides, cleaning and renovating the upholstery, the seat has been finished with the original fabric.
The armchair (according to the notes inside the frame) was produced in the historically marked year 1968. No doubt! This piece of furniture is an icon of Poland’s history!
