Sofa designed by O. Szlekys for ŁAD Cooperative
This sofa is an absolute unique. Based on Irena Huml’s book “Olgierd Szlekys and art of the interior” (Warsaw, 1993) we were able to determine that it was designed by Olgierd Szlekys in 1946 and presented at the Artistic Industry Exhibition in 1947-1948 in the National Museum in Warsaw (see the photo from the book in the gallery). We also confirmed that one sofa is still in the collection of the National Museum. We could not find confirmation as to the existence of further preserved sofas.
The construction is made of ash wood and has survived in very good condition. We cleaned it and covered it with a new layer of varnish and wax. We have also supplemented the damaged plywood. Based on the photos from the aforementioned study, we reconstructed the seat and back (these have not been preserved).
The sofa can be seen in Warsaw in Wola (ul. Jana Kazimierza). If you are interested in purchasing, please contact us to determine the costs and method of transport. Personal pickup in Warsaw is also possible (ul. Jana Kazimierza).
